Before Fame
He graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre in 2007, having already served as an alternate for the role of Jojo in Seussical on Broadway.
Trivia
After finishing his run on Newsies in 2013, he was cast to star in the title role of a musical adaptation of Tuck Everlasting, with performances scheduled first for Boston.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan. He grew up with two sisters, Tony Award nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger and playwright/actress Maggie Keenan-Bolger. He married Scott Bixby on October 13, 2018.
