Known as the chief executive officer of the international charity aid organization GOAL. He was appointed to the position in November 2012. In June 2014, he gave a Ted Talk called "Why No One Cares About Syria."
He earned his undergraduate degree from Blackrock College. He subsequently graduated from the University College Dublin with a master's degree in modern history. Following his college graduation, he worked as a school teacher for 6 years.
He served as a Teachta Dála (TD), or member of the Irish parliament, from 2002 through 2011 as a member of the Fianna Fáil political party. Between 2008 and 2011, he served as the Minister of State for Children for the Irish government.
He was born in Dublin, Ireland. His grandfather, Todd Andrews, was a founding member of the Fianna Fáil political party.
His former post of the Minister of State for Children was held first by Austin Currie.
