In early 2014, this Arkansas businessman began serving as President and C.E.O. of Walmart. Several years earlier, he had held the same position with the Walmart sub-chain Sam's Club, as well as with the Walmart International division.
After earning an undergraduate accounting degree from the University of Arkansas, he completed his MBA at the University of Tulsa. In 1990, he began his full-time association with the Walmart company.
He became a member of the U.S. China Business Council's board of directors.
He spent his earliest days in Memphis, Tennessee, and the bulk of his childhood in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He succeeded fellow businessman Mike Duke as C.E.O. of Walmart.
