Born Irene Greengard and known by the stage names Irene Kane, Chris Chase, and Helen Kane, this 20th-century actress is perhaps most famous for her role as Gloria Price in the 1955 Stanley Kubrick film Killer's Kiss. After ending her acting career in the late 1970s, she became a journalist, news anchor, and nonfiction writer.
She began her entertainment career by modeling for Vogue magazine.
In the 1960s, she appeared in several episodes of the CBS soap opera Love of Life. During this same period, she acted in Broadway productions of Tenderloin, Threepenny Opera, and The Ponder Heart.
She was born in New York City to Benjamin and Pearl Greengard; her brother, neuroscientist Paul Greengard, won the 2000 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. In 1962, she married television producer Michael Chase.
She played the role of Leslie Perry in the 1979 Bob Fosse film All That Jazz.
