Singer-songwriter known by the stage name Chrisye, he was a critically acclaimed Indonesian star who released more than a dozen popular albums throughout his over 30-year-long career.
He first made a name for himself in the 1970s as a member of the band Gipsy. The band teamed up with Guruh Sukarnoputra to record the debut album Guruh Gipsy.
Five of his albums were included in Rolling Stone Indonesia's list of the 150 Best Indonesian Albums of All Time.
He married singer Damayanti Noor in 1982. He passed away from lung cancer in 2007. He had a brother named Joris.
Krisdayanti was featured on his 1995 single "Asalkan Pilih Jalan Damai."
