Retired NFL tight end who won back-to-back Super Bowls as a member of the New England Patriots. He later became a successful broadcaster, working as a college football analyst for CBS Sports.
As a senior at Crespi Carmelite High School, he was named team captain and most valuable player. He also lettered in track and basketball.
While at the University of Colorado, he won the Derek Singleton Award and set a Big Eight Conference record for receptions by a tight end.
His nephew, Joseph Fauria, entered the NFL with the Detroit Lions in 2013.
In 2007, he and then-Carolina Panthers quarterback Vinny Testaverde set an NFL record for the oldest quarterback-receiver tandem to score a touchdown with a combined age of 80.
