A Spanish author of numerous bestselling romance novels, she is best known for her 1991 work, Lucha Oculta. A prolific author, she published weekly fiction pieces for Vanidades, a popular magazine.
She was educated at a Catholic school and read voraciously as a child. She published her debut novel, Atrevida apuesta, in 1946.
She is listed in the Guinness Book of World records as the author who published the largest number of Spanish-language novels over the course of her career.
Her father was a mechanic in the Merchant Navy during the Spanish Civil War. She wed Domingo Egusquizaga in 1959; before separating in 1962, the couple became parents to a son and a daughter.
