Australian chemist and food technologist who is known as the developer of the Vegemite yeast spread.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1914 and a Master of Science degree in 1917 from the University of Melbourne.
He was a member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and helped it get a Royal Charter in 1931.
He was born one of nine children to a teacher and post master.
Like him, John Cornforth has also been an Australian chemist.
