Best known for her Drama Desk-nominated role as Little Red Riding Hood in the original 1987 Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, this stage singer and actress also appeared in theatrical productions of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, Sondheim's A Little Night Music, and Moliere's Tartuffe.
She performed in her first Broadway musical production, Sunday in the Park with George, when she was only thirteen years old. She went on to appear in Woody Allen's 1987 comedy film Radio Days.
She studied at New York University.
She was raised in Derby and Stratford, Connecticut. Her marriage to Michael Goldstein resulted in two children.
She co-starred with Mark Ruffalo in the 2014 HBO television movie version of The Normal Heart.
