Progressive and Christian rock bassist who played with the group Kansas from 1970 to 1983. He recorded eleven albums with Kansas, including Song for America, Monolith, and Vinyl Confessions.
Before pursuing a career in music, he played on his high school's football team.
He became ordained as an Anglican priest and led a congregation in Destin, Florida.
Once a chain smoker, he became a clean-living born-again Christian in the early 1980s.
He formed a Christian rock group called AD with former Kansas band mate Kerry Livgren.
