American pharmacologist and medicinal chemist who was the founding president of the Heffter Research Institute and has contributed to the synthesis and reporting of mescaline.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Cincinnati in 1969 and with a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1973.
He was the Robert C. and Charlotte P. Anderson Distinguished Chair in Pharmacology at Purdue University.
His family comes from Covington, Kentucky.
Like him, Howard Florey has also been a pharmacologist.
