Famous as one of the founders of England's National Youth Theatre, this prominent theatre artist performed in or directed numerous Shakespearean productions for the renowned company and also worked for the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and the Queen's Theatre.
He trained at the famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
He penned a 2014 stage acting memoir titled Covering Shakespeare: An Actor's Saga of Near Misses and Dogged Endurance. Also a screen actor, he appeared in the 1963 cult film That Kind of Girl and in the Roger Corman-directed horror movie The Masque of the Red Death.
He was born and raised in London, England.
He understudied Ian McKellen's leading role in the 2011 Royal Shakespeare Company touring production of King Lear.
