Better known as Dory Funk, he was a professional wrestler who was posthumously inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame at the International Wrestling Institute and Museum.
He was an amateur wrestling champion in high school and champion at Indiana State University.
Upon retiring, he did not leave wrestling completely and became a promoter.
He raised two sons who were also wrestlers named Dory Funk, Jr. and Terry Funk.
He is a National Wrestling Alliance Hall of Famer like his son Dory Funk, Jr.
