Midfielder who has gained fame for his career playing for clubs the world over, including Brazilian side Botafogo beginning in 2016. He previously helped Olympiacos win the Greek Super League in 2009 and 2011.
He played in Vitória's youth academy between 1998-2000.
He helped lead CSKA Moscow to Russian Premier League victories in 2005 and 2006, and to a runner-up finish at the UEFA Super Cup in 2005. He won the Campeonato Mineiro with Atlético Mineiro in 2012.
He has two daughters with his wife Carla.
He and Jefferson de Oliveira Galvão have played as teammates for Botafogo.
