She began participating in local Eisteddfodau (Welsh language festivals) when she was 3.
She won the singing competition Cân i Gymru in 2002, which her mother won in 1978.
Her mother, Nest Llewellyn Jones, was the lead vocalist of Bran, a Welsh-folk band. She has a younger brother named Gwion Llyr Llewelyn, who is a musician as well.
