American poet, artist, and essayist known for his association with the Fluxus movement. He published a 1991 autobiography entitled My Life in Fluxus -- And Vice Versa.
He studied at Kenyon College and at the University of Paris. He later worked in Switzerland as an ethnologist's aide.
He taught at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts during the mid-1970s.
He was born in South Carolina and was raised in Virginia. He passed away in Berlin, Germany at the age of eighty-one.
He collaborated with artist Claes Oldenburg on a piece called "Store Days."
