Chef who is the owner and executive chef of Highlands Bar and Grill, Bottega Restaurant, and Chez Fon Fon in Alabama, he was also recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southern Foodways Alliance for his elevation of Southern cuisine.
He studied philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. It was through the philosophies involving food that he was introduced to cooking.
He was inducted into the James Beard Foundation's "Who's Who of Food and Beverage" in 2011.
