Captained Derbyshire from 1978 to 1981, represented England in the 1979 Cricket World Cup, and was the founder of the Moss & Miller sporting goods emporium.
He began playing in Derbyshire Second XI in 1971 and was called to make his first-class debut in 1973.
He was elected as National Selector by the England and Wales Cricket Board in January 2008, after his retirement from playing.
He married Carol Miller in 1983.
He and Chris Old were both part of the English team that finished as runners-up in the 1979 Cricket World Cup.
