English social worker who became a Zimbabwean nationalist and co-founded the Cold Comfort Farm. He was declare a "National Hero of Zimbabwe" by the country's President upon his death.
He was educated at Rugby School and graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge.
He worked in prison and probation services and did youth and community work in the East End of London.
He married Molly Clutton-Brock.
