Uzbek poet, editor, author, and 1992 recipient of the People's Poet of Uzbekistan honor. Her best-known works include Chaman, Oq Olmalar, and Muqaddas Ayol.
She studied journalism at Tashkent State University and worked as an editor for a publication called Saodat.
She became the first president of the Women's Committee of Uzbekistan in 1991.
She was born and raised on a Kolkhoz (collective farm) in the Uzbek province of Surxondaryo.
Her graduate studies took place at Moscow's Maxim Gorky Literature Institute.
