Japanese actor known for his long-running career in film and television in both Japanese and international productions. He is especially known for his performances in GTO, Beautiful Life, Ip Man, Manhunt, Yaksha: Ruthless Operations, and Alice in Borderland.

Before fame

He began his career in the entertainment industry as a model before transitioning into acting in the late 1990s. His early film appearances included projects like Tokimeki Memorial and Dream Stadium in 1997. He gained early recognition in 1998 when he was cast as Kunio Murai in GTO. He continued building his reputation with roles in films such as Blues Harp and Charisma in 1999 followed by the popular drama Beautiful Life. He reprised his role from GTO in GTO Revival in 2024. He has continued to land major roles including appearances in Golden Kamuy: Hokkaido Tattooed Prisoners Arc in 2024 and Alice in Borderland Season 3 in 2025.

Trivia

He has a black belt in judo. He won the Elan d'Or Award for Newcomer of the Year in 2000. He has worked in multiple international productions including Chinese and Korean films such as Railroad Tigers in 2016, Manhunt in 2017, and Yaksha: Ruthless Operations in 2022. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing and camping and often shares these hobbies with fans through his Instagram account and YouTube channel.

He was born and raised in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki, Japan. He is of Japanese and Salvadoran descent.
