About

Singer-songwriter, author, and restaurateur whose song Age, co-written with husband Jim, went platinum.

Before Fame

She used to sing in local clubs and attended the Rhode Island School of Design and Moore College of Art. She also spent her senior year studying painting and pottery in Mexico.

Trivia

She was inducted into the San Diego County Women's Hall of Fame in 2012.

Family Life

Her life was marked with tragedy: her mother died from breast cancer and a poor heart at the age of 36; her husband, the famed Jim Croce, died in a plane crash a week shy of his son Adrian James' second birthday; then, at the age of four, future singer-songwriter A.J. was struck with a brain tumor syndrome and went blind; and finally, she was forced to change careers after tumors on her vocal cords destroyed her ability to sing.

Associated With

She and Jim used to perform cover songs by Gordon Lightfoot, Joan Baez, and Woody Guthrie at their earliest concerts before they started writing their own music.
