Actress and voiceover artist most famous for voicing the titular character on the Nickelodeon animated children's series Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. She has also worked on other Nickelodeon programs including its 2010 Mega Music Fest, and a 2011 episode of the live-action series Victorious. Her additional acting credits include episodes of Southland and Wisdom of the Crowd, as well as the short film Mobile'D.
Before Fame
When she was a baby, she was abandoned at a shrine in her home country of China. She had a note attached to her clothing which stated her birth date. She was taken in by an orphanage and quickly adopted by American parents, who brought her to the United States, where she spent nearly all her life. She actually only started learning to speak Mandarin when she earned the title role of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan in the year 2007.

Her birth name is Gao Jian. She has a sister named Alexis-Mariah Peters, who was also adopted from China. She has a dog named Kai-Lan, named after the animated character she played on Nickelodeon.
