One of Britain's most-loved poet who became known for a popular 1961 poem entitled "Warning." Her award-winning poetry collections include Unlooked-for Season and Rose in the Afternoon.
She published her first poems in the 1950s. Early in her literary career, she also wrote for The Oxford Mail and The Bedfordshire Times.
She worked for a time as a journalist in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She lived in Birmingham, England before relocating to Oxford to study at St. Hilda's College.
She was born just two years after fellow British poet Elaine Feinstein.
