John Geddert

About

American gymnastics coach who was a head coach of the gold-medal 2012 U.S. women's Olympic team. He was implicated in the USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal involving Larry Nassar. He died by suicide, hours after criminal charges were filed against him.

Before Fame

Starting in 1984, he was head coach at Great Lakes Gymnastics Club in Lansing, Michigan, where he first worked with Larry Nassar.

Trivia

In February 2021, he was charged with 24 criminal charges, including 20 counts of human trafficking of a minor.

Family Life

In 2018, his wife, Kathryn Geddert, took over ownership and management of his gym in Michigan.

He coached the 2012 U.S. women's Olympic team, which included gymnasts Gabby Douglas and McKayla Maroney.
