Before Fame
He started painting when he was 10 years old. He studied at Miami Dade Community College, the Savannah College of Art and Design and the New World School of the Arts.

Family Life
His parents were immigrants from Cuba. He uses his family's heritage as inspiration for his work. He has a brother, Rey Parlá, who is also an artist.
