Professional chef and restauranteur who is known for having started the restaurants Sushisamba Miami Beach and Mercadito Chicago and Miami. He is also known for having co-founded the Pubbelly Restaurant Group as well as the Food Comma Hospitality Group.
He moved from Puerto Rico to Miami in 1998 where he enrolled at Johnson & Wales University where he earned his bachelors degree in Culinary Arts. In 2001, he went on to open up Nobu Miami and Nobu London in 2002. In 2003, he traveled to Spain to work for chef Jesus Ramiro in Valladolid.
He is known for having won the StarChefs Rising Star Restaurateur Award in 2016 for his work in founding the Pubbelly Restaurant Group. He is also a multiple James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef, Southeast.
His great grandmother was a cooking instructor. He has two children named Ian Jose and Noah Alexander.
