Writer, film and television director, and producer best known for his stop-motion animation work with Arthur Rankin, Jr. He served as executive producer for a 1980s animated television series called Thundercats.
After graduating from New York University, he began a production company called Videocraft International (later Rankin/Bass).
He wrote a series of children's books focusing on a vegetable-eating dragon named Herb.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
