She came in fifth at the 1978 Leeds International Piano Competition and also debuted at London's Purcell Room in 1978.
She accepted teaching positions at the Royal Academy of Music and Chetham's School of Music.
Her mother was her first piano teacher, starting her on lessons when she was only five.
