After serving in both the Nevada Assembly and the Nevada Senate, this Republican Party politician became the first woman to hold the office of Nevada State Controller.
After graduating from Occidental College with an undergraduate degree in political science, she earned an MPA from California State University, Long Beach.
Tragically, she was murdered in 2006. Her fourth husband, Chaz Higgs, was subsequently convicted of the crime.
She grew up in Los Angeles, California, in a family of Italian heritage. She was married four times; her longest marriage was to commercial airline pilot Charles Augustine (who died in 2003).
Augustine and fellow California-born politician Kate Marshall both held political office in Nevada during the early 2000s.
