Social media personality and engineer who is best known for being selected as the first Mexican-born woman in space on June 4th, 2022 by Space for Humanity to analyze the "Overview Effect," the space mission funded by billionaire Jeff Bezos. Her TikTok account katvoltage has gained over 410,000 followers. 

Before Fame

She studied at San Diego City College for three years, where she studied Electrical Engineering. She transferred to UCLA where she obtained her B.S. in Electrical Engineering. During her time at UCLA, she interned at NASA JPL. She is also pursuing her Master's degree in Electrical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. 

Trivia

She is the co-host of the YouTube series Netflix IRL and shares her scientific knowledge as "Electric Kat" on the educational series Mission Unstoppable on CBS. In 2022, she appeared on the cover of Vogue and Glamour magazine in Mexico. She has worked on five NASA missions. With such a strong following on social media, she has seen the content on her TikTok page rack up more than 10 million total likes.

Family Life

Her family moved from Mexico to the US when she was 8 years old. Her mother has appeared on her social media accounts.
