Basketball player known for his five-year college career playing with the North Carolina Tar Heels and playing professionally for the Charlotte Hornets, Greensboro Swarm, and Capital City Go-Go.

Before fame

He began playing basketball at a young age. He attended Concord High School, Montverde Academy, and Cox Mill High School, where he helped lead his team to the 2018 North Carolina 3A state championship. He also played elite travel ball while in high school including playing on Team CP3. He began playing for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2018-2019 season. He turned pro in 2023 and signed with the Charlotte Hornets and also played for the Greensboro Swarm and Capital City Go-Go.

Trivia

He earned ACC All-Defensive Team honors in both 2022 and 2023. He was a finalist for CollegeInsider.com's National Defensive Player of the Year award during the 2022-23 season.

Family life

His full name is Rechon Malik Black. He was born in Concord, North Carolina, to parents Chon and Carla Black. His nickname "Leaky" was given to him by his grandmother and comes from his middle name Malik.

He played alongside Cole Anthony for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He played alongside Coby White on Team CP3 before both played college basketball at North Carolina.
