Her poetry has appeared in Edinburgh Review, Indiana Review, Tigertail, Huizache, Drunken Boat and other publications. She edited Borderlands Poetry Review. She wrote Codex of Love: Bendita Ternura and Codex of Journeys: Bendito Camino.

She received bachelor's and master's degrees in cultural anthropology and folklore from the University of Texas.

She has been a featured poet at the Austin International Poetry Festival, the IX Encuentro de Mujeres Poetas en el País de las Nubes festival, in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the Border Book Festival in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She has held residencies at the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow and the Vermont Studio Center. She created a poetry art installation in a pop-up art gallery in Notting Hill.
