Before launching a full-time writing career in the early 1990s, she taught elementary school. Prior to becoming a teacher, she studied at both Georgetown College and the University of Kentucky.

Family Life

A native of Joliet, Illinois, she later settled in Lexington, Kentucky. She and her husband Stephen adopted cats named Calli and Coco.
