Before Fame
She graduated with honors in 1998 from Convent of the Sacred Heart. She attended the University of Virginia, where she graduated with highest distinction in 2002 with a B.A. in Foreign Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies and a minor in Arabic. Her journalism career began behind the scenes at CNBC in 2002. She left CNBC to anchor at Bloomberg Television in 2009. She joined CBS in 2012 and took over Face the Nation in February 2018.
Trivia
She received an honorary doctorate from Niagara University for her work in international affairs in 2015. She became only the second woman to lead the Sunday program of Face the Nation in 2018. She trained in dance which she credits with her on-air composure and focus. She is a lifelong UVA Wahoo booster and regularly mentors students. She won the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in TV Political Journalism in 2023.
Family Life
She married Ali Iyad "Yado" Yakub in April 2015. They have two sons together named Eamon and Malek.
