American comedian and actress known for her critiques of social and political problems. She has appeared in feature films such as Face/Off, starring John Travolta, as well as in TV series such as Drop Dead Gorgeous. She has won numerous awards for her work with the LGBT and Asian communities.
She attended the San Francisco School of the Arts, an area arts high school, where she first learned improvisational comedy. She won the American Comedy Award for Best Female Comedian in 1994.

She is openly bisexual and after same-sex marriage became legal in California in May 2008, she was deputized by the City of San Francisco to perform marriages there. She married Al Ridenour in 2003. They divorced in 2015.
