Notable for hosting the ABC wildlife program Sea Rescue, he is also known for his reporting work on Nightline, Good Morning America, and many other ABC News programs.
After earning his bachelor's degree from Williams College, he worked first as a Jerusalem-based broadcast journalist and later as a Miami-based ABC radio correspondent.
While hosting Sea Rescue, the show won a 2016 Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Series.
He and his sister, Rachel, grew up in Westfield, New Jersey, as the children of Sharon and Paul Gutman. He and his spouse later settled in Miami, Florida.
He and several other ABC journalists were honored for their coverage of the shooting death of African-American teenager Trayvon Martin.
