Before fame
He rapped with the collective Killswitch in Charlotte and ultimately began studying as a Biology major at Howard University. He began releasing music in ninth grade and became part of the Charlotte rap collective KILLSWITCH around 2014. He released his first solo mixtape Beacon in 2016 followed by No Roses in 2017. H

After traveling to LA to work with Earl Sweatshirt and The Alchemist for the first time, he missed the deadline to register for classes at Howard.
Family life
His real name is Omavi Ammu Minder. His father is a rap producer, his grandmother was a gospel singer, and his great-grandfather led a gospel quartet called the Flying Souls.
