This morbidly obese man held the Guinness World record for his 906-pound weight and then, after dropping to only 200 pounds, set another Guinness record for largest amount of weight lost. After losing hundreds of pounds, he suffered a setback when his weight skyrocketed to 1,100 pounds.
Before beginning his weight loss journey, he worked for the IRS and H&R Block.
He founded a non-profit organization called OPIN to educate the obese, their family members, and the general public about the condition from which he suffered.
At the time of his death, he lived in Staten Island, New York, and weighed approximately 550 pounds. He was survived by his wife Madelaine and by several children and grandchildren.
He lost nearly seven hundred pounds with the help of fitness and diet coach Richard Simmons.
