Most famous for his over fifteen-year run as Roger Thorpe on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light, he is also known for his performances in Broadway productions of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein's Fiddler on the Roof.

Before Fame

He first appeared on Guiding Light in 1971. Early in his career, he also appeared on the CBS soap operas Love Is a Many Splendored Thing and Search for Tomorrow.

Trivia

He played the role of David Renaldi on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. His battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) was the subject of his posthumously-published memoir Not That Man Anymore.

Family Life

His marriage to fellow soap opera actor Joanne Dorian lasted from 1965 until 1972. His second marriage, to author and psychologist Susan Hufford, began in 1975 and resulted in daughters named Helena and Marika.
