NFL coach from 1992-2011, most notably as head coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2000-2005.
He made his coaching debut in 1973 as an assistant at Bullard High School, and he made his college debut the next year as an assistant at San Diego Mesa College.
He was the offensive coordinator for the Rams team that won Super Bowl XXXIV.
He was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Before getting his first head coaching job, he learned from Dick Vermeil as a Rams assistant.
