Before Fame

He developed a passion for playing the piano as a child. He began expanding into playing keyboards and synthesizers in high school. He attended Princeton University and initially majored in electrical engineering. His true calling led him to switch to music partway through college, and he ended up studying classical composition, musicology, and jazz. He joined the indie band Hey Champ as a keyboardist after graduating from college and moving to Chicago. He and Hey Champ were eventually signed by Lupe Fiasco's label, 1st & 15th. He eventually returned to DJing and began producing using the stage name Moon Boots. He released his debut album First Landing in 2017.
