Known for being a leader of the Sri Lankan Trotskyist Lanka Sama Samaja Party. He was the first Trotskyist to be in the Sri Lankan cabinet.
He played cricket for school as a young boy, and later earned an bachelor's degree from the University of London External System at the University College in Colombo.
He was the president of All Ceylon United Motor Workers' Union.
He was born fifth in a family of five boys and four girls.
He is a prominent politician and Sri Lanka much like T.B. Ilangaratne.
