An American writer of fiction based on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Smallville television series, she also won four Bram Stoker Awards for her horror-themed short stories. Her popular serial works include Wicked; Gambler's Star; Crusade; and Wolf Springs Chronicles.

Before Fame

She dropped out of school at the age of sixteen and moved to Germany to train as a ballet dancer. She later returned to the United States and graduated from the University of California at San Diego.

Trivia

She published her first novel, Jessie's Song, in 1983.

Family Life

She was born in Los Altos, California. She collaborated with her daughter, Belle Claire Christine Holder, on several short stories.
