Famous for his Nandi Award-winning performances in the Telugu films Chitram Bhalare Vichitram (1992) and Sogasu Chuda Taramaa? (1994) and for his appearances in close to a hundred other Indian movies, including the hit 1982 feature Nalugu Stambhalata.
He made his childhood acting debut in the 1972 feature Pandanti Kapuram.
He starred in the early 1990s television series Munimanikyam Gari Kantham Kadhalu. A politician and philanthropist as well as an actor, he ran for office with the Bharatiya Janata Party and established a charitable organization known as the Blood Brothers Club.
Born Naresh Krishna Murthy and also known as Vijaya Naresh, he is the son of K.S. Murthy and film actress and director Vijaya Nirmala. Between his marriages to Rekha Supriya and Ramya Raghupathi, he fathered three sons.
He co-starred with Daggubati Venkatesh in the 2004 romantic comedy Malliswari.
