About

South African pop singer, songwriter, author, and television personality known for releasing more than 15 studio albums, 2 live albums, and producing over 100 original theatre productions. He is also known for hosting several hit South African TV shows including Die Nataniël Tafel and Edik van Nantes.

Before Fame

He began studying classical piano at a young age. He attended the University of Stellenbosch where he studied music before starting his professional career. He released his debut single "Maybe Time" in 1987 before founding Nataniël House of Music to produce his shows.

Trivia

He has written more than 20 books including short story collections, cookbooks, and memoirs. He is a lifelong lover of travel and once said that Kenya is his favorite place in the world. He has own lifestyle brand Kaalkop which means "bald head" in Afrikaans.

Family Life

He was born and raised in Grahamstown (now Makhanda), South Africa. He has credited his grandmother for inspiring his love of storytelling and performance.
