Nick Holmes

About

English metal singer and songwriter known for being the longtime lead vocalist of the gothic metal band Paradise Lost. He is also known for performing with the Swedish death metal band Bloodbath under the name Old Nick and contributing to albums Grand Morbid Funeral, The Arrow of Satan Is Drawn, and Survival of the Sickest.

Before fame

He formed Paradise Lost with other members of the band in 1988 and made his studio album debut with the band on their 1990 album Lost Paradise.

Trivia

He formed the darkwave and goth-influenced project Host with Gregor Mackintosh and released Host's debut album IX in 2023. He gained wider attention after Paradise Lost released their 1991 breakthrough album Gothic. He joined Bloodbath as frontman in 2014.

Family life

He is also known by his full name given to him by his parents, which is Nicholas John Arthur Holmes.

Associated with

He joined Bloodbath after the band had previously been fronted by Mikael Akerfeldt. He posted a memorial tribute to Ozzy Osbourne on Twitter in July 2025.
