He was sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison for firearms-related offenses in 2016. He remained connected to music during his incarceration by releasing tracks such as "F**k It Up (F.I.U.)" and the mixtape #FreeNinoBrown in 2017. His resilience and dedication to his craft caught the attention of Rick Ross and led to his signing with MMG in 2024.
