About
Chef and restaurateur who is an influential figure in contemporary Portuguese gastronomy. He introduced the concept of chic Brazilian food in Portugal, serving delicacies such as picaña. His Olivier Group has opened more than 30 restaurants across cities including Lisbon, Paris, Nice, Rome, London, and Bangkok.
Before Fame
He started selling t-shirts at age 14. Then he began importing foie gras from France to sell to chefs. He studied at the Lycée Français de Lisboa and the Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo do Estoril.
Trivia
He did an internship at the Ritz Four Seasons Hotel. In 1996, he opened his first restaurant, Olimpio. His other restaurants have included Guilty, Yakuza, K.O.B., SEEN, XXL and the Clássico Beach Bar.
Family Life
He has two sons, Lucas and Mateus. His father, Michel da Costa, was one of the first chefs to win a Michelin star in Portugal.
