Slovenian-born abstract painter who was a founding member of the Earth Group art collective. He and famed painter Ivan Tabaković ran a private art school during the 1920s.
He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and also studied in Prague and Paris during the 1920s.
He was the recipient of the Vladimir Nazor Award for lifetime achievement in 1964.
His family moved to Zagreb in 1913.
He and Kenneth Noland were both abstract painters.
